President Barack Obama is making a fresh, two-minute television appeal in several battleground states, calling for a "new economic patriotism" and asking voters to compare his plan with one put forth by Mitt Romney.

Obama looks into the camera in the new TV ad, telling voters that the nation was losing nearly 800,000 jobs a

month when he took office and was "mired" in Iraq. Now, he says, the nation is "moving forward again." And he charges that Romney's plan would, in the president's words, "double-down on the same trickle-down policies" that led to the economic crisis.

Obama lays out a plan to create manufacturing jobs, promote U.S.-made energy, train workers and reduce the deficit.

The ad is appearing today in New Hampshire, Virginia, Florida, Ohio, Iowa, Nevada and Colorado.
