We already have the "Do Not Call List" for unwanted phone calls, but what about unwanted text messages? Well good news if, like me, you've received questionable and unsolicited offers for free gadgets, political messages, or other sketchy text messages. The major wireless carriers have introduced a service to report those annoying (and sometimes illegal) solicitations.

All you have to do is forward the message you receive to 7726 (S-P-A-M, clever). You'll receive a response from your wireless carrier asking for the phone number that you received the original message from, and then an acknowledgement that the information has been received. I recently got a text message that was clearly a scam and decided to give it a try, here's what I got:

Looks like it works. So, next time you get an unwanted text message, you have a way to help stop spammers and scammers.
