The 45th edition of what is commonly called the “Civil War” will take place tonight on the football field at Toms River North as the Mariners look to continue their recent domination over crosstown rival Toms River South.

North comes into tonight’s game with a record of 7-0 and is the top ranked team in the T&T Coast Top Ten and #2 in the state while South is just 2-4.  However some strange things have happened in past meetings and this one is part of the Great American Rivalry Series which will add to the pomp and circumstance at Gernerd Field.

Tonight’s game will be broadcast on the Shore Sports Network’s 1160 & 1310AM and if you’re going pay attention to what will happen at the start of halftime.  It’s the culmination of Gateway Toyota’s “Kick for the Win” in partnership with our Shore Sports Network. One of 7 finalists from the fall promotion will get the chance to make a kick and win a 2016 Toyota Tundra 4x4 from the auto dealership on Route 37 East in Toms River.

As the regular season winds down there are some other big games tonight, highlighted by a Class A South matchup that finds Brick heading to Central Regional.  Undefeated Point Boro hosts Ocean in an interesting non-divisional matchup, Lacey heads to Southern in an important game for both team’s playoff push and Pinelands shoots for its fourth straight victory at Jackson Liberty.
