It appears most of the Garden State will be spared the worst of this storm which is expected to leave up to 2 feet of snow with blizzard conditions  in eastern New England by Saturday morning

Our snow is expected to start on Friday morning and then change to sleet and rain. However, as the storm intensifies, the precipitation will change back to heavy snow for central and northern counties, leaving 5-10 inches before ending early Saturday morning with the highest amounts expected to the north.

A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for Friday afternoon and early Saturday morning for the area north of Interstate 195. Lesser amounts are expected to fall in southern counties.

The storm will also bring gusty winds of at least 40 MPH inland and 55 MPH along the coast where minor flooding could be a problem.

The snow is expected to be much worse in eastern New England where a Winter Storm Watch is in effect for snow that could fall at the rate of 2-3 inches per hour on Friday afternoon. The National Weather Service's Boston office describes the storm as potentially "historic."
