director's case. According to the Asbury Park Press, Holmdel School District officials were hoping to overturn a jury's decision that awarded $800-thousand dollars in damages to Laurie Cancalosi.

The award was a result of a motion filed by Cancalosi in 2005 claiming that she was subjected to a hostile work environment and even eventually fired because of her sexual orientation.
