Admission to beaches in Seaside traditionally has been free after the holiday, but Borough Administrator Christopher Vaz told the Asbury Park Press, Seaside intended to continue charging beyond the unofficial end of the summer season to offset the cost of lifeguards.

Officials had a change of heart, and have decided to keep the beaches free after Labor Day.

Beaches will remain open daily with lifeguards through September 13. After that , beaches will be open weekends only, through the end of the month.

The number of available personnel will decide which swimming areas and beach ramps will be open, according to officials.

People are reminded to swim near a lifeguard at all times.
