NJ’s Working Women Are Focus Of Republican Forums [AUDIO]

Republicans in Trenton are launching a new initiative to improve the lot of working women in New Jersey.

Assemblywoman Caroline Casagrande says Republicans will hold three forums, the first, Wednesday morning at Monmouth University, to discuss ways to not only help working women, but also assist business women in the state. She says, “New Jersey is already a good place for women to work. But as our economy revs up again, we want to make sure that we have women on a completely equal footing with men.”

Lt Governor Kim Guadagno will take part in Wednesday’s forum at Monmouth U. Two additional forums will be held in Atlantic City and Morris County.

Casagrande says they will also look at ways to keep women in the workforce after having children, such as flex hours and day care assistance, and why it’s important for businesses to welcome women leaders. Part of the stated goal here is the make New Jersey the premier state for women who want the opportunity to have both a career and a family.

Some of the panelists scheduled to join Casagrande at Monmouth University include: Terri Boyer, Executive Director of the Center for Women and Work at Rutgers School of Management and Labor Relations; Melanie Willoughby, Senior Vice President of the New Jersey Business and Industry Association; Candace Straight, Director, Neuberger and Berman Mutual Funds and Montpelier Re, a property and casualty, reinsurance company; and Virginia Alling, Managing Director of PNC Bank and co-chairwoman of the New Jersey Technology Council.
