State officials say New Jersey's first medical marijuana dispensary cleared all its legal hurdles weeks ago and has permission to open.

But some patients are wondering why Greenleaf Compassion Center in Montclair has not started providing pot.

Greenleaf director Joseph Stevens has not returned emails or phone calls from The Associated Press.

Some patients have also complained that they have not heard anything from Greenleaf in months and the dispensary's Facebook group has disappeared.

Last month, Greenleaf became the first medical marijuana provider licensed in New Jersey nearly three years after passage of a law to allow medicinal cannabis in the state.

Five other nonprofit groups have been selected to run alternative treatment centers but are not yet licensed.
