NJDOT: Stay Off The Roads

The New Jersey Department of Transportation is strongly encouraging motorists to stay off of the roads.  Crews had been applying brine to state roadways since Wednesday and are actively responding to the blizzard-like conditions our area is currently facing.

Residents should avoid driving at all costs.  If driving is absolutely necessary, drivers should take the following cautions:

• leave early and allow extra time for the trip
• make sure the vehicle is fully fueled
• slow down
• Leave a safe following distance between vehicles
• stay back from plows and salt spreaders
• use caution on bridges and ramps
