As most who travel Route 37 on a regular basis know, the bridge into Seaside Heights and Seaside Park has been undergoing major roadwork for months now. As a result and in light of a busy weekend of events, NJDOT is asking for cooperation from motorists.

This Saturday is the NJ Special Olympics' Polar Bear Plunge in Seaside Heights.

And of course, the St. Patrick's Day Parade is right around the corner as well, coming up on March 11th.

With traffic being funneled down to only one eastbound lane instead of the normal 3, motorists heading to the beach for the day (especially with another unseasonably warm day expected for this Saturday) could spend more time waiting on the bridge than they will enjoying the day.

NJDOT is suggesting that people heading into Seaside, especially on days that are expected to be busy, head for Route 35 instead.

The good news is that after months of dealing with bottlenecks at the Mathis Bridge, the project is getting closer to completion, with a target of early May to wrap up the construction.
