TRENTON — New Jersey's most notorious marijuana advocate can't catch a break lately.

Police armed with assault rifles and bullet-proof vests on Wednesday raided NJ Weedman's restaurant and pot temple — known as the Joint — on East State Street, right across from City Hall.

Ed Forchion, better known as "NJ Weedman," was among those arrested, according to The Trentonian, which cited his daughter. Law enforcement officials could not be reached for comment Wednesday evening.

Last month, the city police temporarily shut down his restaurant citing ordinances requiring certain businesses to close by 11 p.m. Forchion filed a federal civil rights lawsuit claiming the law violates his religious liberty. Forchion accused the police of harassing his clients.

Forchion missed the national marijuana holiday, 4/20, last week because he had been reportedly arrested a day earlier on a child-support warrant.
