NEWARK - A NJ Transit train bound for Bay Head was evacuated during the Monday evening commute after a passenger allegedly made a threat, transit officials said.

According to NJ Transit Spokesperson Jennifer Nelson, one of the passengers on North Jersey Coastline Train 3363 bound for Bay head "made a verbal threat against the railroad."

Nelson said the train was detained at the Newark Airport stop and all 800 passengers were evacuated.

"A sweep was done of the train for suspicious devices, but none were found," Nelson told NJ 101.5 Monday evening.

The spokesperson said the woman who made the threat was removed from the train by NJ Transit and Port Authority police and taken into custody. She did not know the exact nature of the threat.

Passengers aboard the train were transferred to another train, Nelson said, and were "back on their way by 6:30 p.m."

Nelson said there were no injuries reported.
