NJ Supreme Court Denies Ex-Lakehurst Teacher’s Appeal Bid
Susan Parezo, the former Lakehurst gym teacher who lost her job for allegedly covering a student’s mouth with tape and exposing the youngster to ridicule in class, has been denied an appeal to the New Jersey Supreme Court.
The decision issued today validates an appellate court’s rejection of her claim that her firing and loss of tenure in 2010 was excessive and unsupported by evidence.
Students at the time said she taped the boy’s mouth closed and let other classmates festoon him with balls of tape.
Parezo denied covering the student’s mouth but did admit applying tape to his shoulder, and contended that her intention was not to polarize the boy from his peers.
