A Pace University football captain has been suspended as an investigation takes place into a "highly offensive" photo that was leaked on Snapchat of the New Jersey native doing a Nazi salute and wearing a Confederate flag.

According to an article on lohud.com, Pace President Stephen J. Friedman sent an email to the community saying that the picture "is highly offensive and contrary to the values of diversity, inclusiveness, and embracing the ethnic and cultural differences among students, faculty, and staff that are deeply held at Pace University and its Athletics Department."

Owens, a senior at Pace and a graduate of Salem High School, is a criminal justice major at the Dyson College of Arts and Sciences, according to the Pace University Athletics Department website.

Owens' parents, Randy and Bonnie Owens of Salem, NJ, could not be reached for comment.
