The state Transportation Department announced the grants Thursday, though they were awarded last month by the federal government as part of a package of grants across the country to support recreational boating.

Belmar Municipal Marina is to receive $270,000 to fix docks, gangways and utilities and to add a new security system and a wireless Internet system. Silver Cloud Marina in Forked River is getting $66,000 to renovate a section of bulkhead and install power, water and new lighting. Grassy Sound Marina in Middle Township is getting $36,000 to repair damaged gangways and utilities and add bathrooms, among other projects.
