Nice Way to Do Good at Jersey Shore: Help at Saturday’s Beach Sweeps

I've blogged before about the good feelings that can come from volunteering.  Well you can experience some of those on Saturday at your choice of location.  The Fall Beach Sweeps organized by Clean Ocean Action are taking place at 60 sites all over New Jersey.  I'll post the list of Ocean County beaches below.

You don't have to register in advance, unless you're with a group; but you should come prepared.  According to the Clean Ocean Action website:

 

The cleanup can last for a few hours so it is important that participants are prepared for walking and being in the elements for an extended period of time. Volunteers should wear closed-toe shoes, dress for the weather, and bring gloves. It may also be useful to have a small drawstring bag or backpack along with items such as gloves, a reusable water bottle, snacks, sunscreen, bug spray, etc. to make the experience more enjoyable. Most importantly, don’t forget to bring your passion for the ocean and a positive attitude!

If you go, I'm sure you'll meet other nice people who, like you, love the Jersey Shore beaches.  You'll probably be disgusted when you find a bunch of cigarette butts, plastic straws, and other trash.  And then you'll realize how important it is to help Clean Ocean Action collect data and get the garbage out of the sand.
