Bucket List Trips. Where Would You Go?

Where would you go if you could go anywhere in the world? No restrictions. Money's not an issue. Time off from work doesn't matter. It's your wish list.

I was lucky enough to go to Easter Island when I was in college and it's definitely a place that should be on your bucket list. When I was there, there were no hotel chains, no fast food chains, not even a TGI Friday's. Most of the accommodations were small, family run motels, or even simple guest houses. I have heard that in recent years, it has become a bit more touristy and that some entrepreneurs are trying to make plans for a luxury mega-resort and possibly even a casino. Hopefully it won't get to that point, a huge part of the island's charm is the fact that it is literally one of the last places on Earth that you can go and not get inundated by advertising, chains, and non-stop traffic.

While I was lucky enough to cross off one place on my travel bucket list, here's what the rest of my list looks like:

Egypt

The Great Pyramid of Giza is the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World still intact. My understanding is that you can even go inside. Of course there are many other amazing ancient sites to visit in the Valley of the Kings, although more and more are being closed to the public every day, so this is probably at the top of the list under the category of "see it while you still can".

Pompeii

I've wanted to see Pompeii, Italy since I was a little kid. I read everything I could get my hands on about Pompeii. I was fascinated about the story of a city from nearly 2,000 years ago that was more or less frozen in time by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius, right down to some of the actual people who lived there.

North Korea

I want to go to North Korea.

I'm totally serious.

Why? Well, for the most part it's very difficult for us, as American citizens, to actually go there. It's the old, tell me I can't do it and I want to do it even more. I'm also fascinated by the fact that their culture is so incredibly different from ours. Their information is controlled, and in general they grow up believing what they are told. Their way of life may seem backwards to us, but it's completely normal to them. Do a quick Google search for North Korea travel blogs and you can come up with some really interesting blogs from people who've been there.

I could go on and on, but those are my top three on my travel bucket list.

So if money, work, and time weren't issues, where would you go?
