When I posted yesterday asking "What was the first single or album you ever bought?" the responses here and on Facebook were great.  It made me smile to read how you remembered your first trip to the record store or department.  Some of your purchases included The Partridge Family,  David Bowie,  KC and the Sunshine Band and Crosby Stills Nash and Young.

Obviously our music tastes start developing when we're young, and our record collections reflect that.  Have your tastes changed over the years?  I'd say that my tastes have expanded but I have a special place in my heart for 70s Disco and 80s New Wave.  Even though I've replaced my favorite old albums with their CD or mp3 versions, I still have my albums in a red milk crate.  Why?  I'm not sure.  I guess there's a sentimental reason.  It's just hard to let go of something that was such a huge part of my life.

Do you still have a box of record albums?  Are you looking for a way to repurpose them?  If so, I suggest you type "record album bowls" into your search engine and see what comes up.  I had a blast making and then using some bowls at a party.  They're real conversation pieces!

Another thing I've done is framed some of my favorite album covers.  They proudly hang on the wall as you can see in the photo.  The frames are easy to find at craft stores and big box stores.

What have you done with your old records?  Are they still with you?
