Gov. Chris Christie on Tuesday announced the deadline is now April 1 to apply for register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency or the Small Business Administration for aid.

Before the extension, time to register had been set to run out Friday.

Officials are encouraging those affected by the storm to register so they can get the federal aid they're entitled to.
