Going to see Santa Claus at the mall is a tradition for many families that goes back through the generations, but one New Jersey mall was trying to make guests pay for the privilege of seeing the big guy.

While most malls charge if you want a photo of your child with Father Christmas, kids could still visit with Santa and chat with him free of charge.

But the Cherry Hill Mall wanted to combine the two, by making families purchase a photo package just to see Santa.

The packages started at $35. So, basically, if your kid wanted to visit with Santa, it would cost at least $35 just to get an audience with the man in red.

However, the outcry was swift and loud, and the mall backtracked very quickly.

"We have heard and value our loyal customers' feedback and as a result, have decided to remove the photo package purchase requirements."
So, thanks in part to the power of news traveling fast and everyone having a voice in the age of social media, kids in South Jersey can now visit Santa for free once again.
