Ocean County Prosecutor Marlene Lynch Ford says they have reason to believe Claudette Foster, 67, had been dead for a week following a heated argument with her daughter Lisa Marie, 45, that allegedly turned physical.

In a press release, officials say they went to the original Leisure Village age-restricted community of Route 70 Thursday morning after receiving a call from a third party requesting a welfare check on the mother. Ford says Lakewood Police and emergency medical services responded to the Chatum Court residence after 11 a.m. and found the mother dead inside. Her daughter arrived soon after first responders made the gruesome discovery and was transported to Lakewood Police Headquarters for questioning. Her vehicle was also towed by the Ocean County Sheriff's Office Criminalistics Unit.

The Ocean County Medical Examiner's Office was asked to come to the scene and pronounced Claudette Foster dead at 11:55.

A post mortem examination was conducted friday. The daughter is in the Ocean County Jail on homicide charges with bail at $300,000 bail. She made a first appearance at the Ocean County Courthouse Friday before Judge Blaney.
