Today marks the 14th Anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks ... and today we take a moment to pledge to "Never Forget" !

Some events happening today locally ...

Toms River will have a remembrance ceremony at 9:30 a.m., led by Toms River Fire Company 1, at the Fireman’s Statue on the corner of Washington and Robbins streets.

Brick Township will have its Remembrance Ceremony and Candlelight Vigil at Windward Beach Park at the Angel in Anguish statue. That service begins at 6 p.m.

A silent tribute will be paid to Middletown’s residents who died in the World Trade Center tragedy with a wreath-laying at the Middletown WTC Memorial Gardens at 8:46 a.m. The time marks the start of the terrorist attacks 14 years ago when the first plane hit the towers. An American flag flown over the World Trade Center on the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks will fly at the Memorial Gardens during the ceremony. In addition, an American Flag flown over the United States Capitol in memory of these Middletown residents will fly at Town Hall.

The Lt. Dennis W. Zilinski Memorial Fund will be hosts their 10th anniversary gala , A Toast to Dennis – A Night of Remembrance, at the Eagle Oaks Country Club in Farmingdale starting at 7:00 PM. The gala will celebrate the life and memory of Lt. Dennis W. Zilinski, as well as honoring those from Monmouth County who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks. The event will also feature a reverse auction to assist the Fund in sponsoring service dogs for warriors suffering from PTSD and/or traumatic brain injuries.Click Runwithdennis.org for more information.
