Township police say Nicholas Zimerla matched the description given by a teen who was in a Sunset Avenue house during a break-in at around 2:48 PM. Zimerla was found inside a taxi cab nearby.

According to police, the teen's mother relayed information to police in the initial call, saying that he heard a knock at his front door, quickly followed by a bang from the back of the house.

Confronted in a hallway, police say, the intruder left the house and pedaled away on a bicycle. The bike was found abandoned as responding officers and a Tinton Falls K-9 team set up a perimeter and search.

Officer Kathleen DeLanoy noticed the cab with a sole occupant who was later identified as Zimeria.

He faces four counts of burglary, three counts each of theft and criminal mischief and one count of possession of a prescription legend drug, specifically hydrocodone.

Zimerla was given no option for release on payment of 10 percent of his bail and remains in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold until his court appearance.
