The Summer Olympics tend to have the most popular sports - swimming, diving, and gymnastics topping the list. But, if you ask me, the Winter Olympics has one of the most exciting sports to watch.

Summer Olympic swimming is exciting for the speed and the nailbiting finishes. But I think that the Winter Olympics' short track speed skating has to be the most heart pounding to watch.

The sport that made Apolo Ohno a household name is between about 45 seconds (for the 500 meter races) and a minute and a half (for the 1000 meter races) of non stop, shoulder to shoulder jockeying for position.

It's basically NASCAR on ice.

Without a car. Or seatbelts. Or any kind of protection, really, besides a helmet.

A few short track events took place today, and the competition picks back up again on Thursday.
