I love dogs. As most people know from both listening on-air and reading my blogs, my dog Sydney was my best friend in the whole world. I had to say goodbye to her last summer. Now, 9 months later, I have a decision to make.

Losing Syd was tough. She was my first dog and became my most constant companion for nearly 10 years.

She definitely turned me into a dog person, and there was never a question about whether I'd have another dog or not. The only question was, when?

Well, the opportunity is staring me right in the face at the moment (in fact, if you look at that photo above, quite literally staring me in the face!).

A good friend of mine has a one year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel that she is unfortunately unable to keep. She has generously offered to let me adopt him.

I was hesitant at first. Not because I don't want a dog, but because it's such a big responsibility, and I wanted to make sure that I was ready to go back to being a dog parent.

We spent the day together this past Saturday down at Batsto Village, and he's a total charmer. Very sweet, outgoing, and calm.

Since then, there hasn't been a single person who has tried to talk me out of it.

We're going to have a weekend together this coming weekend, and it's very possible that I won't be giving him back at the end of the weekend.
