A whole generation of Americans grew up wanting to be ghostbusters. Harold Ramis is one of the comedy geniuses that we can thank for that.

Sadly, we lost the star and writer of Ghostbusters today.

Harold Ramis, along with Dan Aykroyd were responsible for Peter, Ray, Egon, and Winston as well as Gozer the Destructor and, of course, the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.

Ramis passed this morning from an auto-immune illness that he had battled for four years.

As we enthusiastically look ahead to a possible third Ghostbusters film, we'll always remember Dr. Egon Spengler and Harold Ramis' contributions to comedy.
