A motorcyclist from Whiting suffers minor injuries to his face, hands and left ankle after colliding with a pick-up truck on Route 70 east around 12 pm Sunday afternoon.

The driver of the 2006 Dodge Ram pick-up truck had slowed down at the time due to the traffic in front of him, but the 2016 Harley Davidson FXD right behind him couldn't break in time and collided with the bumper.

The motorcyclist made an effort to avoid a collision by purposely knocking his bike down and slid underneath the truck but after hitting the bumper.

18-year-old James Hughes III, who was riding the motorcycle wasn't wearing a NJ DOT approved helmet at the time of the crash according to police.

Following the accident he was taken to Community Medical Center to receive treatment for his injuries.

The driver of the pick-up truck, Michael Connor, 58 of Lakewood and his passenger, Catia Connor, 49, also of Lakewood were unharmed in the accident.

The accident remains under investigation by Manchester Township Police.
