A Tornado Watch remains n effect for most of New Jersey until 10 p.m.

Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Ocean, Salem, Somerset, Sussex, Warren counties are all affected as the hot and humid weather continues across the state.

Strong lines of thunderstorms have moved through from south to north dropping 2.5 inches of rain prompting a Flash Flood Warning for parts of Mercer & Hunterdon counties over concerns for sudden areas of high water developing. A Flood Watch remains for northern New Jersey.

Comments reported to the National Weather Service Mt. Holly office Facebook page indicate heavy rain and standing water but no tornado activity.

"Thunderstorm coverage and intensity will increase," explains the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center and expects atmospheric conditions to favor development for at least isolated severe thunderstorms that could contain damaging winds and hail.

A tornado watch means conditions are favorable for tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in, and close to, the watch area.
