Kashi is recalling two varieties of its granola bars over concerns about possible contamination from listeria bacteria.

Kashi Trail Mix Chewy Granola Bars and Bear Naked Soft Baked Granola, Cinnamon + Sunflower Butter are both being recalled because of "possible serious and sometimes fatal infections" contamination from listeria monocytogenes.

"Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women," the company said in a statement. No other Kashi or Bear Naked products are affected.

The affected products are:

• Kashi Trail Mix Chewy Granola Bars with UPC 1862703000 7.4 oz size, with a best by date of Jan. 04 2017 through Jan. 9 2017
• Bear Naked Soft Baked Granola, Cinnamon + Sunflower Butter with UPC 8462310163m 11 ounce size, with best by dates of Jan. 10 or 11.
• Bear Naked Soft Baked Granola, Cinnamon + Sunflower Butter with UPC 8462310173, 26 ounce size, with a best by date of Dec. 24 or 25, 2016, or Jan 11 through 13, 2017

Kashi said no illnesses have been reported because of the possible contamination,

Consumers who have purchased affected product should discard it and contact Kashi for a full refund by calling their consumer hotline at 1-877-747-2467, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Kashi products are just the latest subject to recalls because of possible listeria bacteria contamination, including several others with sunflower kernels.
