The four have been given additional robbery charges. Bail for Devin Delaine, the only 18-year-old, was increased by $100,000.

The teens are suspected of at least three holdups and attempts in Lakewood and two in Toms River, in a joint probe conducted by investigators in both towns.

The 38-year-old township woman contacted authorities Monday and substantiated the report given initially by a passer-by of what appeared to be a robbery in progress, police said.

She told investigators that two black males approached her on Fifth Street between Clifton and Lexington Avenues and demanded money, police said.

The good Samaritan followed the light-colored Nissan Altima until the arrests a short while later, but the woman did not remain in the vicinity, police said.
