A Brick Township woman's ex-boyfriend is accused of today's vicious predawn slashing that left her and a male friend bleeding inside her house.

Police allege that Nelson Rodriguez, 31, of Monmouth's Ocean Township, drove to the Sawmill Road house, realized that the 25-year-old Hispanic man was inside with the woman, broke in, and began stabbing him.

Officers summoned to the dwelling at 12:25 AM found both victims bleeding. The had stab wounds in the chest and hands. He and the 24-year-old woman sustained numerous scrapes and abrasions, police said.

The male victim managed to escape the house and sought help, while Rodriguez allegedly grabbed cell phones belonging to both victims and left the area, police said.

The woman was given medical treatment in the house. The male victim was rushed to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.

Ocean Township investigators found Rodriguezat his own residence at about 1 AM, arrested him without incident, and transported him to Brick PD headquarters for processing.

Rodriguez was then placed in the Ocean County Jail in Toms River. He is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, along with burglary, theft, criminal mischief and two charges related to weapons possession. A judge set bail at a full $175,000.

A probe of the incident is led by Brick PD Detectives Mark Byrne and Timothy McCarthy.
