Monmouth County will be holding another gun buyback Friday the 20th and Saturday the 21st in Asbury Park and Rumson. The gun buyback program will take place at Shiloh Community Fellowship Church, 142 Dewitt Ave., Asbury Park and the Rumson Police Department, 80 East River Road, on Friday, Friday September 20, and Saturday, September 21 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

Any county resident can anonymously surrender a weapon without fear of having answer questions about their identity or how they came into possession of a weapon.
Cash will be paid for various weapons turned in at the surrender points: $200 for an assault weapon; $100 for handguns; and $25 for shotguns and rifles. Ammunition, pellet and BB guns may be surrendered at the locations but there will be no compensation for those items.

"No questions asked and get cash back: that is the philosophy behind our gun buyback program. Residents can bring in weapons to either of the two locations we have established without fear of getting in trouble," Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni said in a statement.

All weapons should be unloaded and transported safely, in accordance with the law.

In March, county residents turned in a total of 1,581 guns - including 15 assault weapons -- during the two-day buyback held at locations in Asbury Park and Keansburg.
