Our Warrior of the Week is Captain Thomas A. McGrath. His wife has written a moving tribute to him.

Liz McGrath writes:

My husband has served in the US Navy for almost 30 years. He has traveled the world including a tour in Iraq and the Mediterranean. He has devoted countless hours of personal sacrifice in supporting his troops, encouraging young sailors, and supporting other military families.

My husband taught my sons to salute the flag at the age of two. he is a devoted husband, father, and serviceman. There is no man who loves his country more than my husband and he has devoted 100% of his time to our country and his flag.

My husband has received countless awards and is truly respected by all of his peers. He is a devoted father of twin boys. When my sons were born, they were premature and only weighed a little over 2 pounds and remained in an intensive care unit for ten weeks. I was hospitalized for over 4 months while carrying them. My husband stood by my side even though he had to work his regular job and his Naval job to support our little family.

Currently, my husband supports his own courageous battle of heart disease. He has survived three life-threatening heart operations but somehow continues to get up at 4 am. His job takes him all over the country, yet he still services his country with honor and integrity.

My husband never asks for anything and has been a loving husband. We just had our 24th anniversary, but were unable to celebrate because he was away on Naval duty. My husband is a wonderful husband, father, and the kind of man people look up to. He is unselfish and asks nothing for himself. I never met a more honest or devoted man than my husband.

I want the whole world to know how much my husband loves what he does. His mentor is former President George Bush (the younger George Bush.) When George Bush stood in the middle of the World Trace Center rubble and yelled 'the whole world will hear us soon', my husband and many others did not hesitate to answer their call.

We thank my husband every day for all the blessings he has given our family. I thank God every day that He sent my husband to me and my sons Ryan and Dan (pictured).
