Police responded to a call of shorts fired at a house on Center Avenue at about 12:26 AM. Residents were in bed for the night, investigators said.

The resident who contacted police said it sounded like rocks were being thrown at the house, until the family's nine-year-old son crawled from his bedroom and said his bedroom window was shattered, and he believed that someone fired a gun.

Unconfirmed reports described two men believed to be Hispanic in a dark, older model Mercedes Benz bearing silver trim on the doors.

Keansburg police are now tracing the origin of two bullets recovered at the house and are in search of more information. Tips are being kept confidential.

Patrolmen William Brink, George Neckles and Dennis Valle Jr., and Sergeant James Nelson, can be reached at 732-787-0600.

Confidential information can also be left at the Monmouth County Crimestoppers web page.
