The Target store in Middletown was evacuated on Sunday for a gas leak.

Shoppers calmly left the store after being told to leave without explanation by store personnel around 12 noon as a number of fire trucks and other emergency personnel arrived. Nearly 200 customers and employees are estimated to have been evacuated.

The Monmouth County Police,Fire & EMS Facebook reports that store employees reported the smell of gas in the store on Route 35. New Jersey Natural Gas has reported at least 2 broken lines.
