Middletown Police collar a township resident whose allegedly been selling illegal drugs.

The arrest of John R. Benda, 35, of Middletown Monday comes after an investigation that spanned several months into a series of burglaries in the Oak Hill section of the township.

While not involved in those burglaries police found evidence he'd been selling drugs in the area.

Benda is now facing several charges including five counts of possession of heroin, cocaine, Xanax, Oxycontin and amphetamines.

He was also charged with possession with the intent to distribute heroin and possession with the intent to distribute Xanax, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Benda is also charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, a switchblade knife, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a drug-related crime.

As a result of the charges filed Benda was lodged in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending a hearing.

The burglary investigation resulted in the arrest of Paul Procopio, 31, of Tinton Falls.
