Middletown pedestrian accident victim still hospitalized

A Belford woman, hit by a van in Middletown on October 13, remains hospitalized, and the driver faces a DUI charge. Police are looking for more information.

Jennifer Smith, 49, was run down as she crossed Route 36, near Seventh Street, at about 9:10 PM, police said. She was rushed by New Jersey State Police helicopter to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.

The driver, Robert L. Nankervis, 61, of Atlantic Highlands, was released on a summons complaint for driving under the influence (DUI) following his arrest by Patrolman Steven Greenwood.
