Mastronardy To Get Big Sickday Payout Upon “Retirement”

If Toms River Police Chief Mike Mastronardy retires this year to become the Ocean County Sheriff, he could end up receiving a payout of almost a quarter of a million dollars for unused sick and vacation time.

The Asbury Park Press reports Mastronardy has accumulated 237 days of unused sick time and 60 vacation days.

The benefit is part of a system that was in place when he became an officer back in 1974.
