I've talked plenty of times about my love of stargazing, and as the calendar flips to November, we have a pair of events that have historically been among the best to see shooting stars in Ocean County.

Taurid Meteor Shower: Peaks November 11th - 12th

The Taurid shower unfolds slowly over a span of a few weeks (I actually saw a nice, quick meteor almost perfectly bisect Cassiopeia while walking my dog earlier this week), but the peak of the shower is the end of next weekend, between November 11th and 12th, which should be a great time to catch some shooting stars thanks to the helpful early moon phases.

Leonid Meteor Shower: Peaks November 17th - 18th

The Leonids can be one of those meteor showers where you see spectacular, once in a lifetime sights. The peak, between November 17th and 18th, falls as the moon moves closer to completion, so your night vision will be competing with moonlight, but the chance to spot some truly impressive meteors could make it worth your time!

Good luck, and let us know if you have some stargazing luck this November in Ocean County!
