The driver who took off from a Saturday morning hit-and-run crash in Manchester is now the object of a search by township police.

Investigators say it happened around 9:05 AM just outside the entrance to the Ocean County Landfill, on Route 70 at Green Acres Road.

A red Mitsubishi Eclipse, estimated between the 2000 and 2005 model years, collided with a blue Dodge Dakota pickup. Investigators say the trucker wasn't hurt.

However, witnesses say the Mitsubishi sped east on Route 70 toward Lakewood. They described a Hispanic male in his 20s, wearing a brown winter jacket. Police offer no license plate number, but say that the car likely has passenger-side fender or door damage and possibly a flat tire.

Manchester Patrolman Antonio Ellis urges anyone with information that can help track down the driver to call his office: 732-657-2009, extension 4401.
