Tuesday's graduation at Manchester Township High School was not only the end of the students' careers there, but also Coach John Musolf's. After 40 years of coaching and teaching, 36 at Manchester, Musolf is retiring.  “I could do this forever, but I want to leave happy. I want to leave healthy. I want to leave not upset, not angry, not complaining, " Musolf told NJ.com.  "Most important, I want to leave with the passion I arrived with.”

Musolf was hired in 1979 and during his time at Manchester coached swimming, football, soccer, track and baseball.  He also taught history, math and religion. He coached 120 consecutive seasons, that's three sports per academic year. Not only did he coach many sports, but also had many accomplishments. He was named a Shore Conference divisional baseball Coach of the Year five times and Coach of the Year during the winter track season. Musolf was a varsity and sub-varsity soccer coach, who also took turns coaching freshman football. He joined the baseball program in 1994 before his two sons arrived at the school and three years later became the head coach where he had over 200 baseball wins.

Aside from coaching and teaching, Musolf was also the site manager for boys and girls basketball and a member of the recreation department where he was involved in summer programs including gymnastics, wresting, indoor soccer, and Little League. “He has served as both a mentor to our student athletes and young teachers,” Manchester Township Athletic Director Keith Lister told NJ.com. “We’ve learned to appreciate his professionalism and his longevity. There will be a huge void here.”

Congratulations to Coach Musolf on an incredible career!
