Manchester man sentenced for neighbor’s murder

The Manchester man who investigators said murdered his elderly neighbor in 2013 is given a 35-year prison term.

If he serves the full sentence, Alan Bienkowski, 57, will be 92 on his release for the death of Anthony Verdicchio, 76, in the Pine Acres Manor mobile home park.

Verdicchio's body was found in his dwelling with severe head trauma. Autopsy results determined that he had suffered multiple blunt-force trauma to the head and face. The manner of death was ruled a homicide.

Manchester police originated the investigation after fielding a 911 call on May 13, 2013, at about 5:18 PM, about an unconscious man, not breathing, in the trailer.
