A Whiting man's collision into a traffic signal, leads to his arrest on DWI charges. Manchester Police said 59-year-old James Gillian was attempting to make a left from Route 70 onto Manchester Boulevard when he lost control of his pickup truck early Wednesday afternoon. When police arrived, the traffic signal pole was knocked over and laying on top of a 2006 Silver GMC Canyon. The responding officer also determined that Gillian was allegedly under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Police impounded Gillian's vehicle, he was issued a summons and released. He was not injured during the crash and the investigating officer determined that he was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.

As far as the traffic light, the New Jersey Department of Transportation responded and removed the damaged stanchion.
