A jury in Ocean County found Daniele Romeodisantillo guilty on eight counts, for planning one business associate's death with another partner.

Peyman Sanandaj, 34, was shot inside the Casanova restaurant, which was closed at the time, according to information released by Ocean County authorities at the time of Romeodisantillo's arrest.

A third associate, Hector Calderon of Freehold, was accused of pulling the trigger.

Calderon was arrested within hours of the April 9, 2015 incident. Romeodisantillo was apprehended just over a week later.

Prosecutors reportedly built their case around $140,000 that Romeodisantillo was given by Sanandaj to invest, which they contended he kept, and sought to conceal by orchestrating the murder, allegedly paying Calderon $8,000 to commit it.

Defense lawyers reportedly argued that the shooting ensued during an argument with Calderon.

Another defendant, a Jackson police officer, was indicted on a hindering charge, for allegedly misleading County investigators.

Charges are accusations. Defendants are presumed innocent unless, and until, found guilty in a court of law.
