Man Blames Spider for Accident in Manchester

Arachnophobia can be blamed on a pickup truck verses utility poll accident on Ridgeway Blvd in Manchester Tuesday afternoon. Police said 41-year-old Thomas Buchko left the roadway and struck a poll while attempting to swat a large spider that lowered itself in front of his face as he traveled south bound near the River Point adult community.

Township Police said that Buchko exited the vehicle himself prior to their arrival and determined that he was wearing his seatbelt. He suffered a minor eye injury when his airbag deployed and was treated at the scene but refused further treatment.

JCP&L was called to the scene to secure the utility poll. However, the roadway was closed between County Route 547 and County Route 571 while work was being done.
