The conversation was a mix of pleasantries and issues that affect individuals and groups.Township staffers moved scores of boxes filled with archival documents to open the space that has a reception area and a more spacious interior for work cubicles.

MacArthur said that he wants his offices to be high-visibility and easily found. "It's the biggest town in the district, and likewise in Burlington County, we're in the biggest town in that part of the district."

And they didn't just stop in from Washington and Main Streets. "We had people from a half-dozen different towns, a lot of veterans, people representing different organizations," MacArthur said.

Those included Sandy-struck homeowners weighing FEMA's offer to reopen any case involving a questionable flood insurance payout. Also spotted were Seaside Park Mayor Robert Matthies and STEPS Director Mike McNeil of Lakewood.

The office is on the lower level of the municipal building, only a step or two away from the elevator or stairs. MacArthur responds to your phone calls, texts and e-mails during the next edition of "Ask The Congressman" on WOBM-AM 1160 and 1310. Send questions beforehand to wobmnews@wobm.com.
