Those loud noises you might hear in the Lakehurst and Manchester areas between now and August might just be the result of aircraft operations at the local joint military base.

Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst announced Thursday afternoon that between now and August the base will host aircraft operations that could cause "louder-than-normal aircraft noise" as well as "considerable noise" from the base itself. In addition, officials say residents who live in the area surrounding the Lakehurst side of the joint base may also experience the ground shaking.

When the weather is overcast, the noise coming from these aurcraft operations could be considerably louder, officials from the joint base explained.

"This training is essential and helps ensure the readiness of America’s fighting force," a press release from the base states. "Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst works hard to minimize the impact training has on its surrounding communities and is committed to remaining good neighbors."

In February, Marines conduct live artillery drills at the base that also caused some noise and shaking in the immediate area. The controlled demolitions were part of a three-day training program that will be conducted by members of the military on the base.
