Well that storm pretty much made yesterday the worst day of the year!  If you're reading this, I hope that means you are some place warm and dry.  Or I hope at least your body is STARTING to thaw from being out in the bitter cold.

One thing I noticed from social media is that some nice things happened because of the storm.  I thought it might be good to write about some of them in today's blog post.  You know me...always trying to make lemonade out of life's occasional lemons.

Family Time:  Many of you were asked to babysit while parents went off to work so that means time with grandkids that you wouldn't otherwise have had.  And those Moms and Dads who were able to stay home got to spend some quality time with the children.

Caring Neighbors:  When the going gets tough, neighbors come to the rescue.  Here's to all the kind folks who checked on the elderly to make sure they were warm enough.  To those who invited others over for a hot meal.  To those who helped with shoveling.  To those who helped push or dig out cars.  I could go on and on.  I love seeing the generous spirit of people in times of need.

Comfort Food:  I wrote about it yesterday and heard from many of you.  Homemade soup and chili seemed to be the most popular thing New Jerseyans like to make during a storm.  Today seems like another good day for grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup!

Nature's Beauty:  While out walking the dog yesterday I saw a beautiful red cardinal, happily singing in a tree.  With a backdrop of snowy white, this vision of red was beautiful.  I only wish I had my camera so I could share it with you.

Okay, so those are just some of the positives that came out of the weather mess.  Care to add to the list anything nice that YOU experienced yesterday?
