Gideon Hitchens, 79, was taken to Shore Medical Center after his 2015 Subaru Outback was hit by another vehicle near the Garden State Parkway ramp in Bargaintown, spun, flipped, and finally stopped after hitting a third car.

Police reported that Hitchens was northbound on Fire Road, and suddenly turned left toward the Parkway ramp, directly in front of the southbound 2013 Honda Pilot driven by Maryellen White, 58, of Galloway. Police said that she had the right of way through the intersection.

The Outback spun clockwise and rolled toward the driver's side onto its roof, stopping when it hit a 2014 Fiat 500 that was stopped for a traffic signal, eastbound at the Parkway exit ramp to Fire Road, police said.

White was treated at Atlanticare Medical Center's mainland division, police said. They did not indicate that the Fiat driver, Gionluis Randazzo, 37, of Wildwood Crest, sustained injuries.

Traffic was rerouted around the crash scene for about an hour, police said.
