Local Ocean County Athlete Breaks a National Record!
Her name is Alyssa Wilson and her name might not ring a bell, but our friends at the Shore Sports Network have been following her story for some time now. Alyssa, from Jackson, is a senior at Donovan Catholic and a member of their Track and Field program. Alyssa has just set the new National High School Record for Shot Put, throwing the "Shot" 57 feet, 5.5 inches, which is now a new high school record here in the United States!
Congratulations to the Lady Griffin!
Wilson had the second longest toss of 56.25 before breaking the record this week at the Eastern State Invitationals in New York.
Alyssa announced in October she'll be attending UCLA in the Fall with hopes one day of representing the United States in the Olympics!
Good luck Alyssa, from all of us here at 92.7 WOBM!
